Botanical name  -Cedrus deodar
Family                 -Conifereae.
English name      - Deodar.
Sanskrit names  - Devadaru, Darubhadra, Darn, Indradaru, Mastadaru, Dramikilima,
                               Kilima, Surabhurubha.
Singhalese name- Devadara.     
Parts used   - inner substances o wood & oil.
Properties:      
Rasa        Katu, Tikta,
Guna       Laghu, Snigdha
Veerya    Ushna                    
Vipaka    Katu
         
Attributes / Karma:
Alleviate Kapha  & Vata.
Cures –constipation (vibanda), Fatulance, edema, Amadosha, sleepiness on daytime (tundra), hiccough, fever, blood disorders (rakta dosha), diabetes, chronic rhinitis (peenasa), cough, itching, disorders due to Vata.                                                                                  
                                                                                                                                                                                                       
Medicinal uses:

External
Skin diseases, helminthiasis & ulcers – paste is applied locally.

Internal
Asthma, Hiccough – decoction of Deodar is used.
Cough caused by Kapha – oil is given along with dry ginger & Yavakshara (Potassium carbonate).
Chronic fever – decoction of Deodar made with milk is used.

Formulations:
Devadarvadi kvata.
Devadarvya arishta
Devadarvadi churna
